Summary

Finish: Original

Top Material: Maple Top

Body Material: Maple Body

Body Details: Laminated maple top, back, & sides– There is a significant repair and past damage on the side wall around the output jack. A metal plate was installed at some point to cover up a missing portion of maple.

Neck Material: Mahogany Neck

Fingerboard Material: Brazilian Rosewood

Neck Profile: C-Shape

Neck Thickness (IN): 1st fret: .87″, 10th: .98″

Fingerboard Radius: 12.00

Nut Width: 1-11/16 in

Neck Details: One-piece mahogany neck with a bound Brazilian rosewood board, split-parallelogram pearloid inlays, truss adjustment at the headstock

Electronics: Two P-90 single-coil pickups, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch, volume & tone controls per pickup– Electronics are original showing only two solder joint touch-ups. All four pot codes date from 1952– The lug that should be soldered to ground on the neck volume pot showed no signs of ever having been done almost 70 years ago from the factory. We have soldered this lug to ground so the neck volume control functions properly. (See before and after pics)– The output jacks ground lug contained a “cold solder” connection. We have cleaned up and re-soldered the connection

Pickup Measurements: Neck: 8.5 k, Bridge: 6.3 k

Hardware: Non-original bone nut

Weight: 6 lbs 2.7 oz

Modifications / Repairs: Repaired impact damage on the side of the body– Two touched up solder connections– Non-original bone nut– “DONNIE” decal added to the top of the body

Case Details: Original hard Shell Case

Cosmetic Condition: This 295 shows only light play wear and moderate to significant aging. Finish checking, oxidation, and chips are all present throughout, though this is most notable on the back of the neck. A “DONNIE” decal has been added to the top of the body near the selector switch. The hardware shows moderate tarnishing.

Serial Number: A12419

Tech Notes: Currently, set up with 11-gauge flat wound strings and low action. The frets are small showing only light play wear.– This model Gibson was introduced in 1952. This instruments serial number, factory order number letter code “Z”, and electronics date from 1952.
